Festival of Trees:
The Festival of Trees is the annual event hosted by Delaware Hospice to support its programs. It displays beautiful decorated trees and wreaths, offers special holiday events, and hosts thousands of visitors.
We will be sponsoring a tree this year, which will be decorated and crafted by club members with symbols of Delaware – state bird, insect, butterfly, flag, fruit, flower and cutout of state. using the DFGC ‘Dedicated to Delaware’ theme. The Festival will take place on November 22-24 at Brantwyn Country Club this year. The decorating day is November 21st. At the close of the Festival, the tree will be delivered to another non-profit organization.
Friendship House, a transitional housing program for homeless women gives residents an opportunity to work and save money while living there. Personal items, clothing and toys are given to families during the Holidays after our Christmas brunch.
National Garden Week:
During National Garden Week, a container garden for the enjoyment of residents of a Habitat home was designated and planted by Gerri. After our closing picnic, the container garden is delivered to a Habitat for Humanity home. Linda has volunteered to design and plant it for us this year.
